ALHAMBRA SKATING RINK, GERALDINE.

Hie long-talked-of earnival in connection with this rink came off on Friday evening last. As the affair had been well advertised there was a large attendance of the public. The spacious hall had been tastefully decorated with evergreens, ferns, flags, etc-. In the centre of the room was suspended from the ceiling an arrangement of various - colored Chinese lanterns, which presented when alight a very pretty appearance. Festoons made of tissue paper of different hues and other material assisted to give the interior of the hall a very tasteful appearance. Ordinary skating was indulged in up till 9 p.m., when the grand march took place. The following were some of the characters represented:— “ Clown,” Mr W. Gi. Sherratt; “Irishman,” Mr R.Morrison, junr.; “Irishwoman,” Mr W. Radford j “ Spanish

Cavalier,” Mr 0. Harding; “ Canadian,” Mr B. Macdonald; Rifleman,” Mr A. Clinch ; “Mephistopheles,” Mr G-. Kras' 1 ; “Sailor,” Mr H. Dierck ; “ Officer,” Mr I>. Winning; “ xVaval,” Master J. Pye. Three ladies representing “ Queen of Hearts,’’ a “ Eifleman,” and a “ Naval ” were also on the floor. In addition to these a number of skaters in plain clothes took part in the march. The colored fires used were hardly suitable for such a purpose, and gave the proceedings a most weird appearance. At the conclusion of the march ordinary skating was resumed till ten o’clock, when dancing and skating alternately were indulged in for an hour or two. Messrs Levens and Colville provided the music, Mr C. Colbert acting in the capacity of M.C.
