September 16
The Times has rntered an appearance in the action brought against the paper by Mr Parnell in Scotland. Sir Charles Russell, who is acting for the Irish numbers before the Commission, his made an application for a sub-Commis-sion to visit America, an.i examine witnesses in connection with the Times charges. Sir Charles has also applied for an inspedion of the letter alleged to have been written by Parnell. Counsel for the limes have applied for an order to examine books and papers in possession of the Land and Na'ional Leagues. Michael Davitt is writing a history of the National League, with a view to dispel erroneous impressions respecting the aims and operations of the organisation.
