At the Woodville Police Court, yesterday, three village settlers, John Jenkins, James Parker, and William Higgins, were committed for trial for killing and taking away the meat of a cow belonging to Mr H. R. Holder.

Mr Gallis, Secretary to tbs New Zealand Commission at Melbourne, writes to say that every effort was made to get mining exhibits, circulars being sent out all round, and every information afforded, but nothing but obstruction was met with. Mr Tolhurst, the Acting-Executive Commissioner at Wellington, writes to tbe Premier claiming that the fault, if any, is mainly doe to tbe apathy and indifference of tbe public, not to the Commissioners.
