AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. TIMARTJ. Mr B. R, Guinness (for the New Zetland Lom and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ending Saturday, August 25th, as follows • Washdyke yards—Business for the past few weeks has been on a very limited scale at these yards, owing to the continuous wet weather, which prevented strck from coming forward, Fat Cattle ; bm»ll numbers yarded, and anything approaching beef is taken by the trade at advanced rates. Privately we Bold 20 bead prime bullocks for Mr John lied ley,'of Seadown, ac a satisfactory figure. Store Cattle : The price of this class of stock is at present low, bnt we note a better demand, and as spring advances values will improve. Several small lines have changed bands at a shade over late quotations. Sheep: Little or no business has been done at the different saleyarda, owing to the cans* above stated. We have inquiries for 2 and 4-tooth store crossbreds, hoggets, merino n<nd crossbred ewes in lamb.

Sheepskins and Wool The wet weather has been very ranch against fciltnongers, but now a change for the better has set in they will be able to work down their accumulated stocks, which are large. Privately and by auction we have disposed of orer 4000 skins at the following prices :—Factory lines, which haye been heavy, 5s 9d to 6s; best butchers’ crossbreds, 5s 3d to 5s 51 ; second quality, 4s 6d to 4s 9J ; merinos, 3s 6i to 4s; country skins, Is 61 to 4s 6d. according to size and condition. Wool : 1 bale trimming (very heavy). per lb ; wool in bags, 4|d to 6d per ib. Fit—A steady demand continues for all descriptions of rough fat, especially well sayed country lots, which brings 8s 61, 9s, to 10s 6d per cwt.

ENGLISH MARKETS. London, August 22. Australian flour is quo'ed at 25s 6d to 26s ; galvanised iron, orb brand. £ls Its per ton ; Australian froz n meat raarket is quiet and stocks are low ; leather, lOd to 10|d ; wool is firmer, August 24. Two Australian wheat cargoes have been sold at 39s 8d ; 1000 quarters of Adelaide ahipment at 38s 4-£d, and a further shipment of 5200 quarters at 395.
