Business Folly.—Temporary adver tising in a small way will not always provide, an immediate or permanent increase of business any more than a : ' slight shower will affect the depth of water in a well. “Do you tumble?” asked Amy, after explaining something to the 'high school girl, “No, dear,” : replied Mildred (a Melbourne young lady) severely, “ I do not tumble, hut I precipitate myself in that direction.” Anxious mother (to her husband) : “I’m afraid you are giving the baby too much sugar, Beuben.” Father (who thinks he understands grocers’ k tricks): “Not at all, my dear; I want him to have plenty of grit—plenty of ‘sand in his crop,’ you know.” One of our young athletes, whose tongue is developed even more than the rest of his body, was expatiating to a young -lady friend, whom he had honored by a call, on his ability as a ' walker ihe other evening, at 1130 p.m., and was told by the sweet girl .that *he weuld dearly lo'e to see him -.-• walk.
