THE CHINESE QUESTION.
London, August 7. In the Housa of Commons Sir Geo. Campbell, m mber for Kirkcaldy, has given notice to ask on Saturday whether Sir Henry Park.es admitted acting illegally in excluding the Chinese from New South Wales ; whether be had statod that the Government were determined to exclude the Chinese despite the Imperial Government ; whether Lord Carington had assented to the Bill indemnifying the action of the Government; and whether this Bill is in accordance with existing treaties between Great Britain and China. August 8. It has been decided to place a heavy polltax on Chinese landing at the Philippine Islands. Washington, August 8. The Senate has adopted the Chinese Prohibition Bill.
