The special correspondent of the New Zealand Herald at the Melbourne Exhibition has sent the fol owing cable message to that journal :—"I regret to s«y that the mining exhibits in the N< w Zealand Court are a total fwiluf, and are bopelcss'y beatf-u by Tasmania, Queensland, and the other colonics. Immediate action is r« quired to remedy this fatal mistake, Mr Wbitefoord, who is at [resent here, h»s writen to Sir H. Atkinson, to contribute £IOO tow mis obtaining an adequate representation of the mineral resources of Nw Zea'and, and. so assisting in crea'ing confidence in the colony."
