OHRISTOHOTROU CORN EXCHANGE The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 3rd inat. : London cables during the week have had a hardening effect on prices locally, but no comparative rise has taken place. This is maiuJy owing to the great scarcity of tonnage ; all the available space has been arranged for. Negotiations, however, are likely to afford a better supply. Wheat —Tuscan : All available has been taken up at 2s 9d to 2s 9|d, and holders now ask 2s lOd. Pearl has a fair demand, chiefly for local millers, at 2s to 2s 9d. Hunters sells readily at 2s 8d for prime quality. Second quality lines vary from 2s 6d to 2s 7£d, and chicken wheat from Is lOd to 2s 4d. Cables during the next day or two may materially alter the above quotation. Oats—A limited business is being done. Prime milling command 2s to 2s Id; short heavy feed, Is lOd to Is lid; inferior and long descriptions, from Is 8d to Is 9d. Barley—But little business is being done in this cereal. Maltsters are well supplied, and only a moderate business is being done in malt. The few holders, however, are not prepared to lower their prices, which still stand at 4a to 4s 3d. Second quality is neglected at 3s 3d to 3s 9d. Feed is hardly saleable. Beans are worth 2s 6d to 2s 7d. Peas, 2s 2d to 2s 3d for feed; and 2s 6d to 2s 8d for prussian blues. Grass Seeds—A few sales are being made for spring sowing—machinedressed at 2s 9d to 3s ; farmers’ lots, not dressed, 2<to 2s 3d. Cocksfoot: Good heavy seed is wanted at to 3-ad. Second quality is dull at 3d. Potatoes—Sydney quotations are barely so high as a week ago. Prices here, however, are still rising, 45s to 47s 6d being paid at country stations for forward delivery. Dairy Produce—Butter has again been m better demand, and prices are firm at 9d to lOd for prime. Cheese is moving off at 3|d to 3fd for small sizes, and 3d to 3id for large sizes. The above prices are those paid to farmers, and delivered f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks extra.
