Muii'le'l and Co. rpporl -ta 1 «>b for tin 1 wi*i'k ending Saturday, 4->' August, 1888,n? follows: At the Geraldine monthly sale on Wednesday there was a medium entry of stock yarded, the major portion of which changed owners at prices satisfactory to vendors. The entry consisted of 2811 sheep, 76 head cattle, and 36 pigs. The values were aa follows: — Sheep —Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, in forward condition, 18s to lls 4d; store crossbreds, 2 and 4-tootb, 9s 7d; crossbred ewes, in lamb, 8a 3d, 6s 9d, to 6s; merino ewes, in lamb, 4s 6d to 4s 3d ; crossbred hoggets, 8s 9d, 8s 7d to 7s 8d; cull crossbred hoggets, 4s 6d to 2s Bd, Cattle —Three-year old steers, in forward condition, £5 to £4 10s; two-year-old steers and heifers, £2 6s 6d, £2 3s, to £2 ; two-year-old heifers, £1 18s to £1 15s; cows, springing, £4 10s, £4, to £3 12s 6d ; dry cows, £2 15s to £llss. Pigs—Small stores, 12s Id, 8s 7d, to 5s 6d. Messrs Webster and Macdonald report for week ending August 4th, 1888: We held our monthly sale of stock at Geraldine on Wednesday, August Ist, and have again to report an improved market, although in this district we have suffered from very severe weather, which must have seriously affected the feed, In all cases there was an advance upon the previous fair from 9d to Is 6d per head. We still hare to note a strong demand for store sheep and hoggets, and owners of this class of sheep can obtain a ready sale at good prices. \ We sold on Wednesday fat sheep for Mr W. P. Turton at llslOd; good wethers for Mr Boyle at 12s 3d; •was in lamb for Mr Bay ley at 10s 3d; ewes for Mr A. Macdonald at lls; I stores ewes and wethers for Mr W. Palmer at 8a lid; stores ewes for Mr Thatcher at 8s 6d; ewes for Mr H. Brown at 6s lid. Privately during the week we placed to a northern buyer 1300 fat sheep at prices from 13s to 13s 6d; and locally 700 merino ewes in lamb at 3s lOd.
