CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday a plentiful supply of fat cattle were yarded, and with a moderate entry of sheep, both fat and store. Fat Cattle—A fairly large entry, quality varied, prime and medium in about equal proportion. Prime steers sold at from £6 5s to £7 12s Gd; medium sorts from £5 to £5 17s 6d; heifers and cows sold at £4 to £5 10s, a pair of very good cows up to £6 per head, beef ranging at 15s to about 18s 6d per 1001 b, according to the quality. Store Cattle—Steers coming three years old sold at from £4 2s Gd to £4 7s Gd, two-year-olds at £3 Os 6d, and two-and-a-balf-year-old heifers at £3 ss, odd lots of store cows at late rates.

Dairy Cattle —Prime quality co|ws, on the point of calving Bold at frpm £6 15s to £8 17s 6d per head ; medium and inferior at from £3 to £5. i Pat Sheep—Moderate entry; ihe quality fairly good, in some cases exceptionally so. The demand was keen right throughout, and values advanced from 6d to Is per head. Best crossbred wethers sold at from 14s to 18a per head ; lighter weights, 1 Is 6d to 13s 3d ; maideu ewes soldjat from 10s to 14s 3d; ewe* of mixed ages at from 8s 6d to 13s 9d ; merino wethers at from 8s 9d to 13s 6d being at from 2?d to fully 2|d for prime mutton, down to about 2d for medium. Messrs Matson and Co , sold for Mr J. G. Euddenklau, 60 crossbred wethers at 15s 3d to 17s 9d ; for Mr T, Parke, 123 crossbreds at 14s 3d to 16s. Store bbeep—Crossbreds, mixed sexes, sold at from 8a 6d to 9s 8d; a line of ewes at 8s 3d; a line of inferior shorn lambs at 4s ; 257 merino ewes at 3s. Pigs—Baconers sold at from B4s to 48s; very heavy up to 565; porkers at from 18s to 30s; stores from 10s to 16s.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is ihe repon for the week ending Wednesday * —

Wheat —The demand for good milling continues extremely restricted. Prime milling velvet and red straw, 2s lOd to 3s Id; tuscan —best, a shade more; medium, 2s 6d to 2s Bd, nominal; fowls’ wheat—whole and full, 2s 3d to 2s sd; inferior and broken, Is 9d to 2s (ex store, sacks weighed in). 0»ts —The market, although firm at last week’s quotations, has not further improved to any appreciable extent. Prime milling, stout and bright, Is lid to 2s; extra choice, a shade more; short bright feed, Is 9|d to Is lo|d ; medium, Is B|d to Is 9d ; inferior, of which the market is pretty well cleared out, Is 6d to Is 8d; black, in small fits, up to 2s; long tartars and danish, fit for seed, Is 9d to 2a (ex store, srcks weighed in). Barley has very little attention from maltsters, especially if in the slightest degree off color. There is some inquiry for milling. There is no demand for feed; quotations nominal. Grass Seeds —With some inquiry. Eyegrass, 2s to 2s 5d for farmers’ lots; 2s 9d to 3s, machine-dressed. Cocksfoot, 3£d to 4d.

Potatoes—Northerns are worth 70s to 755, and southerns 65s to 70s, according to quality. Pigs—Well fed, up to 1801 b, 4|d; hams, Rd to 9J ; flitches and rolls, 6|d to 7d per lb. Chaff— Oaten, heavy well cut, 57s 6d to 60s ; wheaten, green cut, 455; straw, do, 355. Carrots, 355; turnips, 15s; meal seeds, £3; black dust, 9d. Straw —Oaten and wheaten, 40s, Hay—Oaten, 60s; clover and ryegrass, 60s. Butter—Salt, easier, at 9d to lOd (kegs extra) ; fresh do, plentiful. Cheese—Akaroa, 4d; loaves, 4|d; local, 3|d, Honey, 3fd to 4d per lb (casks extra). Sheepskins—On Monday, country crossbreds, low to medium, brought Is 3d to 3s 6d ; do do merino, Is 2d to 2s 9d; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 3s 8d to 6s 3d ; do do merino, 3s to 4s 7d; dry pelts, 2d to Is 2d ; butchers’ green crossbreds, 5s to 4s Id; inferior, 3s 8d to 3s 2d ; green merinos, 2s lOd to 3s 4d; lambskins, 2s 3d to 3s 2d. Tallow—Prime rendered mutton, 18s to 19s; medium to good, 15s 6d to 17s; inferior and mixed, 13a to 14s 6d. Hough fat: Inferior, 8s to 9s; medium to good, 9s 6d to 11s 6d; best, clean and fresh, 12s to 13s per cwt. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At ihe Burnaidtt Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted :

Fat Cattle—24B were yarded, prices showed a slight advance on last week’s sales. Best bullocks brought £8 10s to £9 12s 6d, one pen £lO 10s; medium, £5 10s to £7 10s; others, £4 5s to £5 5s ; cows in proportion. Wright, Stephenson and Co., sold for Mr Jas. Guild (Frevanna), 5 very prime bullocks at from £lO 5s to £9 2s 6d. Donald Eeid and Co., sold for the same vendor 5 extra prime bullocks at £9 17s 6d to £lO 10s.

Fat Sheep—294l penned, wethers fit for freez ng fetched fully Is per head in advance of last week’s prices, while medium and ewes wore in less demand, but showed no reduction Best crossbred wethers brought 13s 6d to 15s 9d; ordinary, 9s to 12s 6d; best crossbred ewes, lls to 13s; ordinary, 6s to 10s 6d; merino wethers, 8s to 9s 3d. Donald Stronach sold for Mr A. M. Cl rk (Temuka), crossbred ewes at 12vs3d.

Pigi—lsß were penned. Suckers brought 6s 6d to lls; stores, 19s 6d to 265; porkers, 30s to 365; baconers, 43s to 6Us.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, August 2. Potatoes, Now Zealand, 755; Warrnambool, 65s ; Tasmanian, 80s. Onions, Yictorian, £7 ,10s; New Zealand, £5 to £7. Maize, 2s 7d to 2s Bd, with steady market.
