Dr Nevill did yeoman service aa a country rector in Staffordshire before leaving for New Zealand, and since 1871 has admirably discharged the arduous and difficult functions which are the common lot of the colonial episcopate. Tbs labours of Bishop Nevill have been peculiarly delicate, owing to the preponderance of Presbyterianism iu bis diocese, a fact which renders all the more remarkable the great strides which church extension has made under his sway. The experiment which be has acquired in such diverse spheres, as well aa his sound churchmanship and well-known talent for organisation, will make him a valuable > oqaisition to the woikiog"forces of the Home church should the report we mention prove to be well founded.
