Floods have b-en exp rencod in Nelson. A m*n named Gilbert Reefton, a miner, died suddenly at Kumara. He wis found dead in bed. The English underwriters of the ship Lyttelton have instructed their solicitors <o carry their ac'ion against the Timaru Harbour Board, for damages for loss of tha vessel, from the Court of Appeal to the Privy Council. At Wellington on Thursday, Mr Justice Richmond refused the application for a writ of habeas corpus in the case of Gasparini, the French con vet, and gnnted a rule nisi in that oa behalf of Gary. I' will, therefore, remain for the Crown to show cause why Cury should not be liberated, and any application in this direction will be heard by His .Honor on Wednesday next. The friends of Gasparini have appealed and the case will be heard next November.
