AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARO. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adam report for the fortn-ght ending Saturday ns follows ; Horses At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 21st inst., our entry, numerically, was fairly good, but the quality of both draught and light harness horses was below the average, and sales were difficult to effect. We cleared 18 head out of 31, as under. To-day, only half a dozen screws were entered, the wet and stormy weather of the last few days having put a complete stop to the travelling of horses and all other descriptions of stock intended for sale. We quote medium draughts at from £l2 to £22 10s; inferior, £8 to £lO 10s ; hacks, medium to good, £lO to £l6; light and inferior, £3 to £B. sbeep forward to meet the requirements of the local trade, and again this week only 8 pens came to hand.. We sold 60 fat ewes at Ils Bd, 46 do do at 10s lid, 100 hoggets at 8s 4d, 730 hoggets (small) at 4s 6d, 51 crossbred ewes at 12s 9d, 87 do do at 9s 6d, 80 do do at lls 6d, 108 merino ewes at 5s 6d, 100 rams (boilers) at ss. Cattle—On the 19th inst., there were only a few pens of all classes, and but little business done. This week there was not a single hoof yarded. We sold at auction and privately £6 10s, 4 head at £5, 4 do do at £6 10s, dry cows at 40s to 555, springers and milkers (for which there is not much demand) at £3 17s 6d to £7 10s. ' Pigs—We sold privately 38 at 10s to 12s for slips, and 23s for well-grown stores. Skins—We held our regular sale on Wednesday last, and catalogued over 1000 skitis. Best country crossbreds sold at 3s to 4s lid : medium, Is 9d to 2s 8d; merinos, Is Gd to 2s 9d ; best butchers’ skins up to 5s Id. Privately we placed 3600 factory skins. j Hides—We have disposed of 105 at to 4d per lb for heavies, and 3d for medium weights. Pat —Over three and a-half tons of rough fat and tallow came to hand during the fortnight, which we sold at from 6s to 9s per cwt. for the former and lls to 12s for the latter. ENGLISH MARKERS. London, July 26. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,190,000 quarters, and for the Continent 490,000 quarters. July 27. Tallow—Mutton 24s 6d, beef 235. There are 17,000 casks in stock. Sugar—German beet 14s. Ox hides 3sd. Kauri gum is flat. 8000 quarters Australian wheat of August shipment are being held for 31s 6d. A cargo has been sold for the Continent at 34s 9d. At the Antwerp wool sales 20,000 bales were catalogued, of which 2000 were from Australia The series close on August 3rd. Prices remain firm, with the exception of inferior combings, which are a farthing cheaper. July 29. Five thousand quarters of Australian wheat, of September shipment, have been sold at 355.
