The estimated:revenue for tbe yaar-bas been exceeded by £600,000 ; the expenditure for tbe same period had decreased £140,000 leaving A balance to carry forward of £837,000. The estimated revenue for the next year is £7,792,000. Tho Government propose to distribute lunatics through the country in asylums on tbe cottage system. Railway freights are to be reduced, and a redaction to Id will be made on the letter postage in tbe colony, the latter involving a loss of £IOO 000. It is intended to reduce the duty on tea from 3d to Id, and to remove the duly on coffee, cocoa, kerrseue, and drss materials worn by the classes, A uniform duly of 6 I will b* imposed on leather, and dress goods (woollen) will b* raised to 25 per cent. It is estimated that the tariff reductions will amount to £85,000.
