MINING ACCIDENT.

Capetown, July 13. By a big fire at the entrance of Deßeer mine at Kimberley, 900 miners were entombed. The accident in the Deßeer mine, Kimberley, was caused by the ignition in the shaft preventing the men from getting on'. 43 men and 500 natives were rescued. The damage is estimated at £20,000. A quantity of dynamite was exploded in the mine in order to clear the galleries from the dead. It is believed that the fatalites amount to 227, of which 24 are white men. No hope is entertained of others being rescued.
