The Dunedin Oily Council held a ipscial meeting to consider the balance-sheet. The Auditor-General wrote stating thst the overdraft exeoeded ihe limit by nearly £13,000. Assuming that the Council acted on a misunderstanding of the law by overdrawing the general accouct while having balances at credit of the gas and water accounts, he did not propose to put the law in force this year, but would do so next. There was talk of the Council resigning in a body, but eventually it was resolvad to ask the Auditor to certify to the gas and water accounts, end refer the matter to ths finance committee.
