TIMARU. Mr E. R. Guinnees (for the New Zealand Loon and Mercantile Aegncy Company, Limited) reports for the. week ending Saturday, July 14th, as fo 1 - lows ; WASHDYKE TABES. Fat Cattle —Only small entries came forward with the exception of a few pens of average quality. The bulk of the yardings have been only equal to stores; the demand being weak very few changed hands. Stores—The price and demand for this class of stock show a slight improvement, and several lines found buyers at improved rates. Fat Sheep—The market being well supplied as yet there is no improvement in prices; in fact values are receding, and we fear the high prices anticipated by some holders will not be realised for some time. Stores —The demand for crossbreds in good conditiou aud hoggets still continves, and they find plenty of buyers at late rates. On the 6th inst., an average entry came forward; we sold 80 fat crossbred ewes at 10s sd, 60 do Jo do at lis, 60 do 2 and 4-tooth crossbred at lis 9d, 66 exceptionally good fat crossbred hoggets at 10s 7d to lis. In stores we sold 128 2-tooth crossbred ewes and wethers at 9s lOd, and 97 do do ewes at 7s 6d. On the 12th inst., owing to wet weather and flooded state of creeks and rivers only a few lots came forward. Best fat crossbred ewes brought up to lis sd. DIETBICT SALES. At Pleasant Point, on the 2nd inst., a good entry of sheep and cattle, the attendance being above the usual, and a satisfactory sale was the result. We sold 64 half-bred ewes and wethers at 10s lOd, and a small pen extra heavy crossbred wethers at 16s—top price this year in South Canterbury—--160 crossbred hoggets (good) at 9s, 150 do do at Bs, and 70 crossbred 2-tooths at 8s 3d.
