BEACHING OF THE SUVA.
The Union Company's steamer Suva, whin goins; out from Westport jast before nine on Tuesday morning, by some meina get into the breakers in crossing the bar, and was unnbls to extricate herself. She took the ground and drifted in the surf to the south a distince of over a mile from the river, and then stuck harJ and fast. She bumped continual'y after leaving th-s channel, and ihe seas broke over Inr, mid when she grounded rolled about and received tha Jfall brunt of the seas. The steamT lies on a soft beach, and h«s apparently recived no damage. At low tide she wi 1 be high and dry, and may be launched soiwa'd in fine weitler, or taken across the neck of land Io the lago-Jii. The passengers, Messrs Turner and Kigg, and .most of the crew, were battened down and bad a very unpleasant tim?. Captain Todd states that the vessel touched ground off the end of the breakwater, and he then lost control of the ship. The engines were kept going in the endearor to uiake headway to se»war 1 until the fires were put out by seas breaking over ,the vessel. The officers' rooms on deck were, wwepl clean away with all their belongings.
