AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Melbourne, July 9. The body of the man found murdered at Elmore, near Bendigo, on Tuesday Ust, has been identified as that of John Duggan, a laborer. Two men named Williams and J>eks have been arrested on suspicion. It is thought that robbery was the motive for the crimp. July JO. The authorities have decided *.o proceed crirrinally against the Palsch Dnchaling Company for defrauding th* Customs by undervaluing a shipment of pianos. Three men attempted to rob the Bank ot Australasia, Collins Btreet, this morning- Two of them attracted the attention of the clerks by jostling oasionwfi, whilst a confederate attempted to take some bundles of noteß containing £ISOO from the counter. A suspicious death has been reported to the police as having occurred al Botany and is now under investigation. A man named Collins died on Sunday, and the doctor who was called in ex pressed tho opinion that the death had been caused by some irritant poison, Mrs Collins's first husband, a man named Andrews, died thirteen months ago, and his widow married Collins a few days later, The doctors in both cases were puzzled by the symptoms, and upon comparing notes are of opinion that both deaths were attended by similarly suspicious circumstances, Andrews, the first husband, had his life insured. An inquest was commenced to-day, but adjourned for analysis of the contents of the stomach, Parliament is expected to be prorogued on the 24th inst. Brisbane, July 10.
