SINGULAR BIGAMY CASE.

A young womatihas been gettlnginto trouble because she took a second husband to herself while her first was in Australia, Bhe had, however (says the European Mail), every excuse for committing the felony. When she married first she was only fourteen years of age, and her husband left here six months after the wedding for Australia. . For someyeiirs she hoped on that the first would return, but in 1882 she found a, willing swain, with whom she contracted a second marriage, not giving him to understand that in all probability she bad a husband alreadyin Australia. Lately, however, the first husband returned to England, and he, finding out the former bride of fourteen years, invited her back,to bis bosom. The invitation she accepted, and was living with him when she was arrested by the police for feloniously marrying the second man. The barrister who defended said that the charge was instituted by the police, aud no complaint was made by either of the husbands against the young lady who found herself in this difficult position. The young lady eventually pleaded guilty, aud the Recorder, remarking that it was not a

case for punishment, sentenced her to eight days’ imprisonment, the effect of which was that she was discharged at the rising of the Court.
