ASHBURTON MARKET.
The market on Tuesday was well supplied, the sheep entries totalling about 6000, besides a fair supply of cattle and pigs. Prices all round were distinctly in advance of last week’s. Crossbred wethers sold up to 13s 6d; ewes and wethers, to 11b 6d, for a nice line of 2-tooths; and to 18a 5d for four and six-tooths; ewes, 9s 9d; crossbred ewes and lambs brought 8s 7d to 9s 9d; merino wethers, half fat, to 5s 4d; merino ewes, fat, 6s; merino ewes, in lamb to long-wool rams, to 4s 8d; crossbred tambs, of very indifferent quality, sold at 4s 7d; and good, lines to 6s Bd. Cattle sold at improved rates all round* Eighteen months’ old store steers sold to 365, and heifers to 28s; Pigs fetched full prices.
