An important Maori case, Boughton v. Irene Donnolly, involving several thousand pounds, was commenced in the Supreme Court at Blenheim yesterday morniDg, Wi li*m Anderson and George Alexander were committed for trial at Christchurch yesterday, for attempting to break into the White Horse Hotel on Saturday morning. The action brought at Auckland by Mrs; Freestone, claiming £4OO damages from Dr Kinderrline for alleged aegligent treatment, by which she lost the use of an eye, was concluded oh Saturday, when & verdict was given for dtfendant. The barque Annie Bow put back to the; Bluff on Saturday, owing to having lost all her deck cargo and (he refusal of the men to work. She was on her way to: Adelaide with a cargo of timber, and was, therja hundred milea away, when Bhe met; heavy weather. The men got scared and refused to go on, No damage was done to the vessel.
The Wellington Divorce Court was; occupied on Saturday hearing the cases of: Wilkinson v. Moellar v. : Moeller, and Soufiott v. Souflott. In each instance it wab a wife's petition for! dissolution of marriage on the grounds of: the and adultery. The. Chief Justice grunted a decree niti in each: caie. ; A girl, Elizabeth Eeston, who was; severely injured by being burnt at a shirt faciary in Great North Koad, Auckland, j. and was sent to the Hospital, succurabsd to her injuries on Sunday morning. Deceased was warming glue at a fire when her dress caught the flames, and; before they could be extinguished, she: was terribly burnt about the back and legs. The s.s. Gerda, which went aßhore at' Greymouth on Saturday, is a eomplete wreck. On Saturday night, her hul parted amidships, the fore part disappear-, ing in-the sea. The remainder ot the vessel still to the rocks, and, should the weather keep fioe, efforts will be made to save the engines. About fifty men will be thrown out of employment through the stoppage of the North Breakwater.
