MURDEROUS ASSAULT.

Invercargill, Juno 19. This afternoon as Dr Galbraith u as passing along a street in North Invercargill, a passer-by saw a man named John Maloney, inspector of nuisances for the borough, following the doctor with a double-barrelled gun. The doctor turned and spoke to Maloney, but what passed between: them has not transpired. Maloney raised the gun and deliberately fired at him.
