AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. TIMARC. Mr E. It, Guinnrfß(for the New Zealand Loan and Mficantile Agency Company, Limited) rppor«s for the wrek ending Saturday, June 16th, as follows ; Washdyke Yards;- Fat Cattle The market ia still well supplied and no alteration in prices can be quoted. Wa note botli the Christchurch and prices are hardening, and prime beef is bound to follow suit; in our local market ere long. A fair number ot steers and heifers have changed hands at Ihe weekly sales at from 16s to 17e 6d per 1001 b. Sheep—There hat been a strong dimand for fat sheep,' and prices have advance! considerably. Hoggets and turnip sheep are also .largely sought after. On the 7th inat. there was a large attendance of buyers, including teveral from Christobarcli, Asbburton, Waimate, and Qamaru. The alteration of Stirling the sheep sale from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. will no doubt be a great convenience to buyers from a distance; also advantageous to sellers. We yarded 3612, and aold every line. Fhl crosgbreds brought from 8s lOd to lis 6d ; store crossbrods, 2-tooth ewes and wethers, 8< 6d to 9s; ewes in l«mb, bfet 6* 9d, old 3« 9i to 4i 2d ; crossbred hoggets, os Id ; culls do do, 3i 3d ; old merino ewes, from is 3d to 2< 4d. On the 14th inst. we penned 1278, in some instances vendors' ideai of values being so high a fen lines were returned unsold, although we consider, taking it altogether, the sale was a very satisfactory on*. Weso'd 480 2-iooih crossbred ewes and at 8s 7d, 61 fat do ewes at 9« 41, 86 do lambent 6s3d, 150full-mouihed croanhred ewes at 7s, 166 do do do at 6s 101, 40 fat crossbred ewes at 7* 9d, 41 fat merino ewes at 7*, culls at 2s. Winchester Fair.—At Fair on the 12th iost., in conjunction with Mr K. F. Gray, wa had a most successful sale oo account of Messrs F. H. Jiwrker. J. M. Greenaway, D. lnwood, W. Budd, and others. Our entry was- 551 theep, 95 head of cattle, 88 piga. Every lot found buyers at the following satisfactory prices : 70 fat crnssbreds at lOj lid, 120 do do at 13*, 105 crossbred wethers at 9i sd, 166 do ewes at 7" sd, 21 fat bullocks at £6 12s 61 to £7 a piece, 30 head fat cows und heifers at £4 6s to £4 15s a head, 7 milch cows at £3 10s to £4 10s, 2-yoar-old cattle at £1 J la t'> £2 2-, mil. 11 yearlings 15s. -j Pigs—27 fat at £2 7«, 11 rioat£Hs», 10 at £1 5.«, 21 fat at £1 17s, 5 do at £1 6s, 12 stores at 20*. Clering bales.— On the 12 h iost., in conjunction with Mr K. F. Gray, we i-old on account of Mr F. H. Barker, Winchester, who lias let his farm. There was a large attendance of neighboring farmers sod others present. The catalogue w«t* extreuey long, consisting of hones, harness, implement*, aud a large quantity of valuab'e household furniture, etc., etc. The sale wis commenced at 10.30 a.m., and continued without any iotermiasion until 5.30 p.m. with great spirit, every article beiog diaposed of at very satisfactory prices to the vendor. Sheepskins—We had no sale by auction this week, but disposed of several lots privately. Hides—The market remains steady at late quotations, with good demand. We have disposed of all on hand.

TIMARU MARKETS.

Wheat—Business during the past week has been very quiet. Quotations : Prime .velvet and tuscan, 2s 7d ; red chaff and squarehead, 2s 6d ; whole fowl wheat, 2s to 2s Id ; broken do., Is 6d. Oats—Prime milling, Is 9d ; good short feed, Is 8d to Is 9d ; bright heavy Danish, Is S£d to la 6£d ; fair average, Is 4£d to lss|d. Barley—lt is difficult to place any quantity at over 3s 6d per bushel, but as stocks are not large a rise may shortly take place.

ASHBURTON MARKETS.

Mr D. Thomas reports upon the live stock market for the iveek erring June 13i h as folio ire ; On Tuesday at the Ashbuton Yards 1 held my usual weekly sale of sheep, catlle, and pigs. The total entry comprised 3900 sheep, 14 pigs, and 21 head of cattle. The attendance was fairly good, tad although at the commencement of the.sale, it was rather dragging, store sheep at the middle and towards the end of the sale were well competed,.for, and sellers bad every reason ts be satisfied.; A good enquiry exists for good four and sixlooth cressbred wethers and maiden ewes in good . condition, and we sold a line of wetliers off turnips at 10* ; we have also beard of a line off gras* of mixed sexes to be put on turnips at 10a 6d all round. I sold sheep at the' following prices': 29 fat ewes, 7» 10d; 22 fat wethers, 8* 8d ; merino wethers, 4s 8d; store crossbred ewes and wethers, 8s 3d, 7s Gd, and ?• ; crossbred lambs from 4s 3d, 4s lOd, ss, 5s 6d, 5s lOd, 6s 6d and 7a 4d ; trio-tooth crossbreds, 6s 9d to -7s ; 'crossbred ewes (middle aged), 5s 8d ; raerinb ewes (boilers), Is 3d to 3s sd; merino wethers (boilers), Ja 7d. In pigs, 30s 3d to £2 ss. Cat tle : A dragging market, equal to late rates.

ENGLISH MARKETS. Losdon, June 14; In consequence of nineteen Bhips being late, 60,000 bales have been excluded from the wool list. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for tbe United Knigdora is 2,470,000 quarters, and for trie Continent 720,000 quarters. Prices of wheat are dropping. An off-coast Australian cargo, in iron bottom, sold at 32s 9d. American parcels are firmer. Leather is quoted at 10£d. June 15. Kauri gum is flat. Tallow—Mntton, 245; beef, 23b. Sugar—German beet, 13s 6d.' Hides,' 3fd to 3|d. Rain during tbp past few days is improving 1 tha prospects of tbe hop crop. Wheat preapects are iriore favorable. Two Australian wheat cargotH have been "s6ld at 32s 9d, and a third at 38a 3d.
