THE TICHBORNE CLAIMANT.
Among the passengers by the G-uinon line steamer Wyoming, which arrived at Queenstown from New York a short time ago, was the Tich-< borne Claimant, who is reported to be, in excellent health. Before his departure from New York he was inter-: viewed by a newspaper reporter. "My ticket, of leave expires this week," he said to the reporter, " and I am going to England as boou as I get enough money. I shall have 100 new witnesses, and shall produce Arthur Orton at the proper time, and prove his identity. Since Bth August, 1871, he has been in a lunatic asylum in Parramatta, New South Walesa I If everything is favorable, I expect to get my casein Court by November next. I can prove that the jury which convicted me was packed. I have been promised £IOO,OOO by Miss Baring, of the London banking firm of Baring Bros,, to carry on my case; £84,000 has been subscribed by the Tichbbrne Vindication and Magna Charta Association for the same purpose."—The Boston Globe publishes the following:—Some eighteen months ago an Englishman who was widely known in St. Louis died quite suddenly. Among his effects was found a package of papers bearing a label with the following inscription: "Be sure to burn this or bury it with me. May G-od paralyse the hand that opens it." The packet was placed in his coffin and buried with him. It is now learned that the deceased 3 man was for a number of years a footman in the household of the Earl of Gosford, who was one of the witnesses to the will which played so important a part in the trial of the case of th» Tichborne claimant. Facts have 3 now been brought to light which lead to a belief that these buried papers have a bearing on that famous case, and in view of the approaching termination of the claimant's ticket of leave, and a possible reopening of the case, it is possible that the packet of papers may be resurrected.
