Correspondence was read— ■ i From the Clerk to the Ohristchurch City Council covering a petition for the aholition of the totahsator, and asking the Board to have the same signed.—After some little discussion . it was resolved to let the petition lie on the table. I- .-, .. The Overseer's reports was read as to report that since the last meeting of the Board, the various works then authorised have been completed. The water tables in Wilkin street and in ! ?! erected at the corner of Wilkin and High streets, and the old lamp has been removed from the corner of the Catholic School, and re-erected at the corner of the Post-office reserve. A cutting has been made to give entrance to Mr tannery's section. Contract No. 7, shingling portions of Wilkin and Alexander streets, has been completed. Owing to the wet weather it was found necessary to supplement the original contract by about 100 yards of shingle and clay. The roads repaired, however, will now last for considerable time. The gravel reserve No. 769 has been carefully worked and now yields excellent shiogle. The reserve in Maude street has been fenced, and it will be necessary also to fence reserve 769. Notices have been served upon defaulting ratepayers. No further action* has been taken in the matter of the removal of fences from streets and garden reserves. Only one settler has as yet complied with the Board's resolution.—l have, etc., ",;•!'. ■ "A. W. Gaze.''
It was resolved that "the Overseer be authorised to arrange for the removal of the fences from roads. The Overeeer was also instructed to arrange for alteration in portion of Studhdlme street. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £4<2 lis were passed for payment, and, after the ;discussion of sundry minor matters, the meeting terminated.
