AUCTIONEERS REPORT.
GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for tin* week 'ending Saturday, 9'b June, 1888, «3 follows: — At the Geraldine sale on Wednesday, the entry was an average one. The numbers yarded were 1954 sheep, G2 head of cattle, and 35 pigs- The sale, especially in sheep, was in favor of sellers, as the following quotations will show: — Sheep—Crossbred 2-tooths in; forward condition sold at 9s; hoggets, 6s 4d. ■ At Washdyke yards on Thursday, there was a large entry of sheep, the major portion of them being sold at prices satisfactory to vendors, Privately during the week, we have sold to a northern buyer, 1396 forward crossbreds for turniping, at prices varying from lOs 6d to 11s. Cattle—At the Geraldine yards, we sold fat steers at £4 14s to £5 6s 6d; cows in forward condition, £4 ; springers, £2, £3 5s to £3 17s 6d; 2-year-old steers and heifers in low condition, £2 to £2 14s; yearlings, mixed sexes, £l; calves, 9s. At Washdyke yards we sold fat steers at *5 15s. Pigs—At Geraldine yards we sold bacon pigs at £1 14s; porkers, £l3s; strong stores, 15s; small, 8s to 9s. Land Sales —We have offered at auction .some town properties in Woodbury and Geraldine, but failed to find a purchaser at owners’ values. DUN DIN MARKETS. At ilm Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Eat Cattle—2o7 head were yarded. For prime, competition was fairly active at about last week’s rates, while for ordinary quality biddings were dull a ,l d prices lower than last week. Best bullocks brought, £8 10s to £9 10s; inferior and medium, £8 6s to £6. Gowsln proportion Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for-Mr William Grant, (Elloughton Grange), 6 bullocks at from £6 12a 6d to £7'2a 6d. Mesara Reid, Maclean, and Co. sold for the same, vendor, 12 prime bullocks from £7 17a 6d to £5 17s 6d ; for Mr W. Watson, 14 bullocks from £8 to £6 ss. Calves—Eat calves sold at from £1 7s 6d to £ll4s 6d. Fat Sheep— 2723 were penned, including about 160 merinos, the balance crossbreds- (nearly all ewes), only medium ■ qilality. Best crossbred wethers brought brought 12s 6d to 14s 3d; medium, 10s to 12s j best crossbred ewes, its 6d to 13a 3d; brd v inary, 8s to 11s; merinos, 5s 6d to 6s 6d. ■■■.-_ Fat Lambs which were sold, under moderate competition, at 6s 9d to 9s 6d. ; .Pigs-—302 were penned, which sold at about, equal to last week’s rates. Suckers brought 6s dd to 8s; light stores) 15s*,6d to 22s 6d; porkers, 33| to 365; baconers, 40s to 655. Sheepskins—On Monday country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought Is 3d to 3s 6d; do do merino, Is Id to 2s 9d; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 3s 9d to 5s 2d; do do merino, 2s lOd to 4s 6d; dry pelts, 5d to Is Id; butchers’ green crossbreds, best, 4s 3d to 3s 3d ; medium, 3a 2d to 2s, 9d; green merinos, Is 10d‘ to 2a 4d ; lambskins, 3s 7d to 2s. Hides Quotations for the week are for heavy weights, in faultless condition, 3fd to 4id; medium, 2fd to : light, 2id to 2|d; inferior, to 2d per lb. Tallow—Prime mutton, 19s to 20s ; medium to good, 16s to ' 18s; inferior, 18s to 15s 6d; rough fat, inferior, 7s 6d to 8a 6d; medium to good, 9s to Us; best mutton caul, Us 6d to 13s per cwt. '■' ; )
