A MISLEADING STATEMENT.
TO THE EDITOR. , Si*, That misleading morning paper, the Timaru Herald, is certainly getting more audacious than ever, and now has the effrontery to tell us what the whole population of the district is ready in an instant to deny, I refer to the extraordinary statement contained in one of its locals this morning that it was raining heavily in Geraldine the whole of yesterday. I, Sir, happened to be in Geraldine yesterday, and can get hundreds of others to swear that beyond a light shower or two, tho day was beautiful, although rather cold. It is coming it a little too strong to tell a barefaced fib on a subject that every person in the district knows the truth about. —I remain etc., SUNSHINE. Geraldine, May 30th, 1888.
