Sale ot Hobbes.—Messrs J. Mundell and Co. hold a large sale of horses at the Wash* dyke yards to-morrow. Pbk-Sebsional Addbessbs,—Mr A. E. G. Rhodes will address his constiuents in the Volunteer Hell, Temuka, on Friday evening, and at Pleasant Point on the following evening.
Baiaab.— A mooting of the ladies attending the Catholic Church, Temuka, has decided te hold a bmjaar to clear off the debt on the church. The day has been fixed for BoxingDay.
Bkbatum:.—ln the report of the coursing at Raakapuka on Thursday last, Mr A. H. Brisco was mentioned as haring acted as, slipper. Id should bare read Mr M. Connolly, Mr Brisco acting as slip steward.
Timabu Women Faoxoey.— Work at the Timaru Wollen Factory will shortly ba again in fall swing, arid; it is to bo hoped that, success will reward those who hare taken such an important industry in hand. The mill will be under able management.
Tisit ot Bibbop Geimks.—The Eer. Father Fauvel announced on last Sunday last that the Right Rev. Dr Grimes would visit IVmuka in next June to administer the Sacrament of Conflrmation. He urged parents of children to prepare them for the occasion.
Lectukb at Wikohestbh.-— To-morrow evening the Bar. G. Barclay will deliver a lecture in the Winchester School, on the subject of “Are there More Worlds than One.” The proceeds will be devoted to the purchase of a harmonium For use in the Sunday School and at Religious Services in the school. Mb Bbyob and Sib Aethub Qobdoh.— The Wellington Post is informed on good authority that Mr Bryns has no intention of going Home to prosecute Sir Arthur Gordon. Mr Bryce is, however, in correspondence with the Imperial Government in regard to Sir Arthur Gordon’s conduct and slanders; and this correspondence, which is of a yigoreus nature, is sot yet concluded. Modem —An unexplained muddle, tha depth of which wo have been nnable to fathom, has occurred in connection with the inquest held yesterday. Mrs McClure died at 1 o.m. on .Friday morning, and the inquest was not held until yesterday. The people connected wi'h it wore put to great hardship and expense in having to bring the body down to Tetnuk*. on Sunday morning and remain io Temuka until after the funeral. It would be interesting to know who blundered. Bazaab at TbmpsA. —Tbs annual bazaar and gift auction in connection with St Saviour’s Church will be opened in the Tsmuka drillshed to-day, at 3 p.m., and if buyers are found for all the useful and tempting fancy articles displayed, it will be an immense success, A “ bran pie,” “ Christmas Tree,” and shooting gallery will be among the attractions, and a well provided refreshment stall will obviate the necessity of those who pay the bazaar an early vis t leaving in search of refreshments. It is to be hoped there will be a large attendance. We have been requested to state that the bazaar will positively take place to-day.
