THE CRISIS IN FRANCE.
Paris, April 19. The Chamber of Deputies opened to-day. Boulanger delivered an oration to the crowds assembled as he went to and returned from the Chamber. There was no disorder.
At the opening of the Chamber a vote of confidence in the Government, expressing a belief that they would ensure respect for the Republic and triumphantly carry a moderate policy of constitutional reform, was agreed to by a majority of 200. Th« motion was proposed in consequence of Boulanger demonstrations. Tiia Government announced that they propose to nominate a Committee, to revise the Constitution of France on Saturday.
April 20. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day M, Floquet staled that the Government favored a revision of the Constitution, and would be prepared to consider any well defined proposal that did not aim at a monarchy, or that was not a cloak covering » Dictator’s throne.
April 22. A collision has occurred between Parisian students who ridiculed Boulangcr, and the followers of Boulangc The disturbance became so serious that the assistance of the police had to be called in end finally the crowd were dispersed, but not before many of the rioters were injured. The Chamber of Deputies has agreed to postpone the question of reforming the Constitution for the present, The Cabinet has decided that M. Carnot should proceed on his four as originally fixed.
