Mr Gladstone, speaking at the National Liberal Club, expressed great pleasure at the strength and condition oi the National party in Ireland, In the connie of his speech Mr Gladstone denounced the action of the Government in agreeing to make concession to the local Government party a condition for the alteration of their views on the question of Horae Rule as scandalous and dishonorable. Mr Balfour has been entertained at a banquet by the National Tory Union. In the course of a speech on the occasion Mr Balfour said there were indications that the Gladstone-Parnall Alliance was gradually dissolving. ||Mr Blaine’s Irish 'tenants’ Relief Bill has been rejected by fifty-seven, Mi Balfour declaring that the effect of the Bill would be to reduce the landlords’ property to a nominal value. Later. In his speech at the National Liberal Club, Mr Gladstone stated that the Liberals were gaining strength to a large degree, and he predicted an early settlement of the Irish question. He mentioned that the party with which he was connected had decided to use all endeavors to prevent the imposition of the petty and vexatious taxation on horses and wheel traffic as proposed in the Budget, April 13, The Liberal parly have resolved to strongly oppose the County Government Bill. By Mr Goschen’s scheme £463,000,300 have been converted, The new consols are £ below par. Mr Gladstono, speaking in support of Mr Parnell’s Judicial Reduction in Rents Bill, denounced the behaviour of the police at Ennis on Sunday, and declared it was as bad as that of the Mitchelstown affair some time ago.
