TIMARU MARKETS.

Wheat. —Quotations are ; Prime velvet and luacan, 2a 7d ; red chuff, 2« 6d ; fowl wheat, 2s 2d ; broken do, Is 6d. Barley. —Prime, 3a 9d to 4a Id; medium, 3a 6d to 3s Bd. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU, Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows: Horsea.—On the 24th instant, at the Timaru Horse Bazaar, our entry was a medium one, and all draught! fit for farm work found buyers. We quote medium draught* up to £l7 10a, inferior £7 to £lO. There are no good hack* offering, and the price for weed! and screws ia merely nominal. Sheep.—At Washdyka on the 22nd there was but little businees done. We sold 230 lambs at 4a 101, and 46 ewee at 4a 9d. On the 29th thera was a change for the better, both as regards number entered, demand, and sales effected. We sold on account of varies* owners 63 fet wethers at 6* 7d, 1322 mixed ewes 4a 6d, 104 halfbred ewes at 5s 6d, 803 crossbred iambs from 3s 5d to 3a 101, 345 cull lambi at 2a, 132 crossbred lambs at 5s Id, 298 do do 5a 3d, 75 halfbred ewe* at 4 S 19 ), 8 B.L, lambs at 2 guineas each, and 6 Lincolns at 1 guinea each, Privately we disposed of 1398 halfbred ewes and 1500 merine ewee. Cattle.—At Wishdyke list week and this, only a few pens of fat were yarded, and for these we had difficulty ia realising 15* per lOOib. At that price we sold 10 head. In store cattle the entries have been made up of cows and yearling*. Of the former we sold 23 at from 35s to £3 15s, 1 springer at £6, 25 yearlings at from 24s to 35*. wesners 12h. Loudon, March 28, A cargo of Australian wheat on the passage has been sold at 32s 6d. March 29. The sugar market is flat. German beetroot is quoted at 14s. Mutton tallow is quoted from 25s to 26s ; beef, 23s 6d to 245, The number of casks in stock is 6000. Australian tin is 5s less, and is now at £166. The copper stock is 153,000 tons.
