The report concluded : " The Committee greatly regret that the farming community do not take a greater interest iu these exhibitions, particularly with regard to grain, knowing that this district can produce samples equal to anything that can be grown in the colony, and which should be one of the greatest features of our show. We should like to recommend that a committee of farmers by appointed, representing the outlying district)*, to look aft-r this class of exhibit, and we'feel coufidunt ti:at bH'li a course would u'timitely result in great benefit to South 'Canterbury, G«»eially the show must be looked upon as a success, taking ! iiito consideration the fact thai many breeders of stud stock, who io previous years have favored us, laid themselves out to exhibit io Ohnstchurch, being the first year of the new show grounds in connection with that city'B siiow. We i rust that in| the Timaru Show of 1888 farmers J wil ! be, liberal in their cosiwibutions, *md enab'e us t<; fiiva Biich prizes as vili induct) s'ock feeders o exhibit h re if wrll tmC r'Hicliurch. Ampl* piovisio > having been made to the OhrisiciiU'di ground? for the depasturing and housing of stock, there ih no reason why stuck should not be exhibited here and trucked through to Christcburch, instead of being f»ken home, held for a few days, and then forwarded to Curistchurch. The hearty thinks of the Association are due to Messrs G. H. Rhodes (Fmsident), Jas. King, J. Mundell, 0. 0. Matthews, J. S. Kocherrord, E.
