IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.
London, March 21. In the House of Commons Mr Parnell moved the second reading of his Irish Lflnd Act Amendment Bill. The Bill extends the power of the Court in the matter of reducing arrears of rent and postponing evictions. Mr Chamberlain characterised the Bill as being only another phase of the plan of campaign. The motion was negatived by a majority of eighty-five. The Temperance party object to a clause in the Local Government Bill, which proposes to grant compensation for the refusal of licenses. The publican section strongly oppose the proposal to increase the license fee. March 23. Lord Onslow, late Political Secretary of the Colonial Office, his introduced a Bill entitled the Shipping Life Saving Bill, The measure is drafted on the lines approved by the Colonial Conference, and has been read a second time. March 24, Jn the House of Commons last night, Mr Harrington asked the Government if it was not possible to devise some means whereby a stop might be put to the practice of selling imported meat as English, In reply Lord Onslow, as Political Secretary to the Boird of Trade, suggested that the vendors should be prosecuted by people to whom they made the false representation. Mr Bradlaugh's motion affirming the expediency of determining hereditary pensions (al ways having due regard to the just claims of present recipients), and the desireableness of thoroughly wising the system of granting pensions, has been agreed to by the House of Commons. ilr Goschen's Conversion of Stock Bill has been passed by the House of Lords.
