ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. ’ London, March 20.
The Daily News’ correspondent at Stamboul states that parleying is proceeding between the Porte and England with a view of getting the latter to evacuate Egypt before April, 1889, the Porte, in the event of this being done, consenting to open the Dardanelles to the British ironclads.
The prospectus of a London Storage Company, whose object is the storage of Colonial produce, has been issued. The capital is £100,500, Mr Cecil Raikes, Postmaster-General, is again urging the Government of JNew Zealand, to adopt the parcel post system. March 22.
The Rockwell Silver Mine Company of Australia is registered, with a capital of £175,000. The statement made by the Daily -News'' correspondent at-iitamboul with reference to the evacuation of Egypt by England and the opening of the Dardanelles to British ironclads is denied.
Paris, March 20.
At a communist meeting General Boulanger was strongly denounced. A number of Deputies belonging to the Left have Issued a manifesto protesting against General Boulanger’s pretensions. General Boulanger will probably be relegated to the retired list.
Offing.to General Boulanger's defiant attitude, it has been decided to adopt fresh measures against him.
March 21.
The Chamber of Deputies is showing a very hostile feeling towards Boulanger. A Military Court is now enquiring into the alleged breaches of discipline in the general’s case. Madame Simousen has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment in connection with the traffic in decorations. March 22.
The Extreme Left in the Chamber of Deputies are opposing the movement against General Boulanger. M. Tirard has announced that the general’s alleged branches of discipline will be immediately investigated by a military court of enquiry. Bomb, March 21.
The official military organ states that the prompt defensive measures taken by the Italian Government have been the means of averting a French attack which was contemplated on Spezzia and Genoa early in the month. Calcutta, March 19,
