DISASTROUS STORMS.
New Yqkk, March 16. The damage sustained through the recent snowstorms is estimatjd at twenty million dollars.
Twelve New York pilot bonis, and over a hundred coasting vessels have been wrecked. It is feared there has been great loss of life. At Brooklyn twenty funerals were . proceeding, and were blocked ini the streets by the snow. The corpses were removed to the houses in the vicinity. A train conveying a number ,ot Now York legislators was blocked for two days. The occupants, when rescued, were in almost « starring condition.
March 17.
Accounts of the snowstorms still coma in from outlying districts, and fully two hundred fatalities hare been reported up the present. A melancholy instance of the severity of the storm on the coast has been found. One vessel was discovered adrift, with the whole crew frozen to death. London, March 17.
Scottish railways have been blocked by severe snowstorms, The snow-plough engine in endeavoring to oieartbeline came into collision with a passenger train, and several passengers were injured.
