GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of this Committee was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. Present—Mews W. B. Maslin Chairman), E. H. Pearpoint, J. Cunningham, O. Taylor, 0.1. Sherratt, N. Dunlop, and J.Biordan. MINTJTSS. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. THI AtTDIT. The accounts and books duly audited by the Board's auditor were laid upon the table. OOKBBSPONDENOI. Correspondence was received and dealt of Education with ntard to the Sonthern Cross Beader, stating that the following resolotion had bam;passed J7the last meeting of the Board: "That the J articular elais now using the Southirn Tees Beader in the Geraldine School be allowed to do so, but the Board's resolution on this subject is to be carefully observed in

AeeoonU amounting to £2 17s 6d were passed for payment master's bepobt. Th 6 head master's report was read. It stated that the average attendance since the opening had been 20«, and on one occasion it j hid reached to 218. He asked for some P~ better light to be provided for the drawing claai which waa held on Monday evening. The report also stated that the matter was •boot starting an eveniiag claw, and requested the use of the schoolroom. The attendance was considered satisfactory. It was decided to aik the parents of the children who received the benefit of the drawing class to contribute a trifle towards, better light for the das. The master was grarled the use of the school for the evening classes, subject to the lighting being found and any extra cleaning to be arranged lor with the caretaker. • The blackboard was authorised to be lent to the Bporte Committee for use on the day , of the sports. lABTIB HOMDATB. It was decided to close the school for the Baiter holidays on Thursday, March 29th, to reassemble on Monday, April 9th. VIBIXOBS' BEPOBT. The visitors reported having visited the ichool and finding everything going on satisfactorily with an attendance of 209. They mentioned tome trifling repairs that were needed, HOMBS IN THE OWHJHDS. It was decided to caU the Hester's attention to the resolution on the minutes re horses being allowed into the grounds. OTKHABWK. It was dseided to ask the Board to wpply • gymnasium apparatus for the uss of the •ekooli NOTICE 09 MOTION. Mr Ounniniham moved the proposition standing in hii That the resolution passed by the Committee on May 11 be rescinded." The resolution tdimi to ran n follow! h» "That there appears by the statement of account* that there was a debit balanoe or £5 6s 4d, instead of a credit balance of 45 Is 6d, and this Committee regret that the late Committee did not bring down a correot statement of accounts to date of anuria! meeting." Mr Cunningham said he considered the late Chairman bad had a good deal to do with the matter, and as he had now taken his seat upon the Committee in place of Mr White (resigned) he (the mover) had brought the matter up in order ts give the late Chairman an opportunity of making any explanation ha might be able to. Mr Dunlop, who was referred to, said he had brought down the accounts to the Slit December instead of to the date of meeting in April, as the first mentioned date had always been the one to whioh the aooounts had been brought down. The Chairman stated that no reflection was meant to be cast on anyone. The resolution had been patsed, and would serve to let the publio know that when the present Committee came into office there was a debit of £6lßi 4d (a further account having come in afterwards) instead of a oredit balance of £5 2»6d. Had the aooounts been brought down to the date of the April meeting, when . the Committee took offioe, they would have known better how they stood. .. After some further conversation, Mr Winnisgham's motion was pub and lost, two voting for, and four against it. ▼ISITOBS. Messrs Maslia and Taylor were appointed visitor! for the month, and the meeting terminated.
