ENGLISH MARKETS.
Lohdon, Feb. 25.
The English wheat market is heavy, Continental steady, and American dull. Australian, ex warehouse, 34s 9d; New Zealand, 33s 6d. Tallow is steady. Best mutton, 275; beef, 24s 6d; Bussian, 255; hides, Bfd per lb; leather, extra heavy, lOd; Scotch pig iron, 44s Bd. Feb. 27.
"White wheat is firm, red is 6d dearer. Coast cargoes are well forward but are steadily held.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated February 25th 1888 :
■Wod—The sales closed this day at the level o£ last sales > except for superior greasy, superior combing washed, superior scoured merino and coarse crossbred, which have advanced nearly id per lb; medium and inferior greasy, inferior washed merino and inferior scoured merino have declined id per lb. Superior greasy merino lambs has advanced id per lb, and greasy merino lambs has declined id per lb since close of last sales. The sales comprise about 25-HOO bales. 153,000 bales have been taken for the continent, and 5000 for America; 27,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Frozen Meat—The price of mutton has advanced ?d per lb since last report. ■
