ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, Feb. 20. The London Chamber of Commerce are parleying with the directors of the international tariff bureau, with the object of arranging printing tariffs lor the world in tear languages. It has been announced that Government will revive the department of agriculture. A terrible snowstorm has been experienced in Cumberland. Fire trains have been embedded and traffic of all kinds interrupted. A large number of sheep were frozen to death, Feb. 21. Lord Whitby, Secretary for the Colonies, has been pressed by Sir C. JR. Mitchell, lately Governor of Fiji, to accelerate the return ot the Wesieyans to Tonga, as it is hoped the sppression to which they were recently subjected has ceased. New Zealand inscribed stock is at 99£. The English Football team leaves for the colonies by the New Z p Jtknd Shipping Company’s R.M.S, Kaikoura, on March |th. At a meeting of the associated Chamber of Commerce held to-day, a motion affirming the desirab'enens of changing the fiscal relations between England and her colonies, in order to increase the trade of the Empire, was negatived. The proposal to reduce the amount of postage to the colonies was agreed to at the same meeting. Feb. 23, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland will not bo represented at the Melbourne Exhibition. the Manchester exhibitors are very backward in their preparations, There will be three hundred French exhibitors.
Plymouth, Feb. 21. Arrived today—. rI.MS, Kniroura, from New Zealand, ail well ; her of meat is in good condition, Paris. Feb. IS. M. Pasteur is at present conducting a series of experiments in order to ascertain whether other anirntif, besides sheep, arc susceptible to chicken cholera. Berlin, Feb. 21. The condition of the Crown Prince is growing more serious. The Prince is attacked with violent .fits of coughing, and it is feared hi* lungs are inflamed. Sir Morrell Mackenzie disagrees with the treatment prescribed by the German doctors. 11.K.H. the Prince of Wales is now at San Remo, Feb, 23. The latest bulletin issued respecting the Crown Prince stales that he is rather better. Rangoon, Feb. 20. The Dacoils are again troublesome and are menacing the city of Ava. A number of outrages have already been committed in the vicinity of that town. Cairo, Feb. II; A messenger hat just arrived in this city from Khartoum. His report, it is said, throws additional light on the fall of that city, but for the present th« report will not be rasde public. It has leaked out, however, that Staten Bey and Lupton Bey are still at Khartoum. The former lias been appointed commander of the Mabdi’s forces, and haf grown powerlul and insolent. He baa absolutely refused to join tbs Khedive’s service. Lupton Bey is suspected by the Arabs, and is carefully watched. MassoWA®, Feb. IS. It is announced that the Lalian forces will exacuate this place in the course of the next six weeks. Feb. 22. A smart outpost engagement took place at Ssaiti last evening, between the Italians and a body of Abyssinians, No casualties nro reported at present, but details of the engagement aro not yet to band. San Fhanoisoo, Feb. 20. , A sugar association has been formed to regulate prices. It has a capital of sixty million dollars. Washington, Feb. 28. President Cleveland, in a message to the Senate on the Fisheries Treaty, said that the settlement arrived at was a just and honorable one.
