AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Mr Moss Jonas reports ms follows : Harvesting now being in full swing throughout the district has had a prejudicial effect on the sales of stock, entries of both sheep and cattle at the various markets being reduced to a minimum. An all round fall has taken place in sheep, and fat cattle have suffered in sympathy, as was to be expected. For these reasons sales have been comparatively small and unimportant. Pleasant Point Sale—His regular monthly sale on Monday, the 6th, was, taking one consideration with another, rather better than was expected, a complete clearance of the limited lines entered being made, but at a slight decline on previous values. He sold 50 2-tooth halfbreds at 6s, 57 ewes and wethers (mostly ewes) at 6s, 54 halfbred ewes (4, 6, and 8-tooth) at 6s 2d and 39 at 6s 3d, 76 4-tooth maiden ewes and wethers at 6s 5d and 80 at 6s 9d In cattle he sold 5 steers at £5 10s, 3 at £4 10s, 1 at £4 Is, 2 at £3 12s 6d, 3 fat heifers at £3 17s 6d, 1 cow at £5 10s, and 1 at £1 17s 6d; also a draught gelding at £4los.

Horses—At his yards to-day he sold 5 average geldings (most of which had seen better days) at prices ranging from £9 to £ls, spring dray at -bIS, tip drays at £5, and a large quantity of useful harness at very good prices. Waskdyke Yards—The Thursday weekly sale brought few entries, He sold 1 heifer at £B, 1 cow at £3 10s, and 2 fat cows at £4 17s 6d.

Sheepskins, Etc. —The regular fortnightly sale took place on Wednesday, wken pelts brought Id, 2d, 3d, and Is 4d; lambs, Is Is 3d, Is 4d, and Is 8d; crossbreds, 3s 9d, 4s 9d, to 5s 2d. A line of merino and crossbred skins brought 5d per lb; bag wool up to 6d; pieces 4|d; 7 bales tbreequarterbred hoggets 7-|d, 2 bales 7fd, and Ido lambs pieces 4^d; 54 bides and calfskins at from 2|d to 4d; fat, 5s to 9s per cwt. ENGLISH MARKETS. London. Fob. 8. The wool market —Inferior and greasy are unchanged; superior, -|d rise; crossbred, especially coarse, is in strong demand. Feb. 9. I he wheat cargoes afloat amount to £1,368,000 quarters. The American wheat (visible) supply is 41,000,000 bushels. Wheat (ex store) is quiet and steady. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,690,000 quarters. Prices are unchanged, but the market is flat. Heavy sorts are in active demand. Off coast cargoes have declined 6tt, and are quoted from 32s to 32s 6d. The flour market is firm. The quotations for tallow and copper have not changed. Feb. 11. At the wool sales to-day Victorian merino showed an advance of 1-H to 3d, best combing and greasy h-ive also improved dpi, middle sorts and greasy are unchanged, superior sorts have j advanced Id, medium and inferior j crossbreds from to Id. j Official statistics show the total i wheat produce to be over 76,000,000 | quarters, being an increase 0f13,000,000 ipr tho year.
