AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.

■ Messrs J.r Mundell and Co. report sales for the "-week 'ending Saturday 4ili P.t., 1888, 03 follows : At the G-eraldine Tarda on "Wednesday the totals sent forward for the day's wale were 1515 sheep, 129 head, of cattle, and 45 pigs. The whole of the sheep and pigs were sold, and the major portion of the cattle, at the following prices, viz.:— Sheep—4*tooth crossbred wethers, light weights, 7s 4d; full-mouth ewes and wethers, fat, ss ; 6d; 2-tpoth crossbreds, in the wool, 8s 2d j merino ewes, in the wool, with 50 per cent, of lambs, 6s; 2-toofch f-breds, shorn, 5s 3d to 6s.
Cattle—.3-year-old steers, nice quality, £6 2s 6d ; cows, fat, £2 17s 6d, £3 2s 6d to £3 15s; cows, iu full profit and close on calving, £2 7s 6d to £3 ss; dry cows, £1 7s to £2; 2-year-old steers and heifers, £2 to £2 15s; yearlings, no entry. Pigs—Strong stores, £1 Is; small stores, from lis to 15s. Supply not equal to the demand. Clearing Sales—On Tuesday, at Hilton, on account of Mr GK M. Taylor, we held a clearing sale of household furniture and effects. There was a good attendance and satisfactory prices were obtained.
ASHBURTON MARKETS

Very few stock yarded, and hardly any farmers in attendance. Fat crossbred ewes made 5s 9d and 6s 4d; forward wethers, 6s 7d and 6s 9d; store wethers, 4s 9d and 5s 9d; store lambs, 2s lid; fat cows and heifers, £4 7s 6d to £6.
RANCH ORA MARKETS.
In consequence of the harvest there was a limited attendance at the sale on Tuesday. The prices for stock were:—Pat sheep, 6s lid to 7s 3d; merino wethers, la 2d to Is sd; merino ewes, Is 4d; fat cattle, £4 15s: yearlings, £1 15s j calves, 12s; milch cows, £i; dry cows, £3; store pigs, 18s. In the produce yards, woolly sheepskins brought 2s to 3s 4d ; pelts, Gd to Is 9u ; hides, l|d to If d per lb; fat, Ifd per lb; fowls, 2s to 8s 4d per pair; ducks, 2s 3d; chick wheat, 2s 3d to 2s Gd per Wshel; oats, la 7d, beans, 3s ; potatoes, 3s to 4s per 1001 b; cheese, 3d ; sharps, Gs per bag ; bran, 3s; flour, 10s per 1001 b, ISs 6d per 2001 b.
ENGLISH MARKETS,
London, Feb. 3.
Eleven hundred casks of tallow were sold yesterdav by auction. Mutton is 28s, beef 20s. Leather—Best Australian sides lOd. Iron—Scotch pig 455. Sugar shows an upward tendency. German cargoes have sold at 15s 6d. All wheat markets, are inactive. Auniralinn, ex K'.-ireliou.so, is -'.lis. New crop has sold at !)d loss. At tlu! wool <«U:>'. hiil(lin;>; was iipirilcil. I'i'jm', ;m; Jiardoi'.i'iij owing to foreign competition., especially German. Twelve thousand five hundred bales were sold, prices being well maintained. ■ Feb. 4. Good greasy wool is Id and scoured 2d dearer than at the December sales.
