Three fires broke out in the city of Wellington on Saturday morning, all within an hour of each other. At 3 o'clock a fire commenced in John Beck's timber yard, Dixon street. The flmnea rapidly spread through the whole mill, completely devastating the premises. Besido3 the mill two small one-storeyed cott'ges and some out buildings in Turunnki Place, and another in Leeds street were gutted. The insurances amounted to £935. Incendiarism is suspected in every case, and two men named .John Qollins and ReHbeu Hind have been arrested, charged with causing the lastnamed lire. Hind is only just out of gaol after a ten years sentence.
