Three fires broke out in the city of Wellington on Saturday morning, all within an hour of each other. The first outbreak was in Old (Justom House street, at a few minutes before midnight, when a block of one storied buildings occupied by Davidson, turner and joiner, F. Witty, ocoountant, Wallis Staples bootmaker, Geary blacksmith, were discovered to be on fire. The flames spread rapidly and soon destroyed the building. About half-past one another fire broke out in a shop of LefFar bootmaker, Willis street. The flames were extinguished without the assistance of the brigade. At 3 o'clock a fire commenced in John Beck's timber yard, Dixon street. The flmnea rapidly spread through the whole mill, completely devastating the premises. Besido3 the mill two small one-storeyed cott'ges and some out buildings in Turunnki Place, and another in Leeds street were gutted. The insurances amounted to £935. Incendiarism is suspected in every case, and two men named .John Qollins and ReHbeu Hind have been arrested, charged with causing the lastnamed lire. Hind is only just out of gaol after a ten years sentence.
