AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
TIMARTJ,
Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday 88 follows I
Horses—The activity whioh we experienced in the horse sale a few sales back has subsided, and we again close on the bed rock prices, for everything except first-class draughts. For these there is a ; fair demand, and only a few offering. iOn the 28tb utt. we disposed of 22 out of | en entry of 64 bead of all sorts, and to-day i about an equal number out of 52 head at from £l7 to £24 10s for best draughts, and for mediums £lO 10s to £l4. Aged nod infirm draughts are unsaleable. Hacks.-—We have placed at auction and privately a few good sorts at from £l6 to £23 10s, ordinary sorts £8 to £l4, and inferior £4 to £6. Cattle—At Waehdyke our sales have been the worst experienced for months past. This is no doubt owing to farmers being fully employed harvesting, and leaving them but little time for attending to their live stock. Butchers in the meantime have had their wants fairly well supplied by private salon. We have sold on account of various owners—3 head at £4 10s, 6 steers at £5 ss, 8 steers at £3 to £4 10s, 7 bead at £4 5s to £5 7s 6d. Sheep—At the various yards during the fortnight entries were small and but little business done. We have, however, some transactions in young sheep pending completion, and have sold 200 fat ewes at 5s 3d, and 600 ewes and wethers privately. Skins—At our sale on the 25th ult. our catalogue wes a large one for the season, and prices were satisfactory. Crossbred pelts lOd to Is 4d, lambskins, Is 3d, U 9d, 2a, to 2s Id. At the latter prices we have placed several lots of freezars. Country Sales—During tbe week we disposed of Mr Gascon's farm, Pareora, at £9 per acre, and the live stock and implements at satisfactory prices.
