A LECTURE will be delivered in the I'EMUKA VOLUNTEER HALL, on TUESDAY EVENING, January 24, 1838, at 7.30 o’clock, by the REV. JOHN DICKSON, M.A. Subject : “ Superstitions of the Old Country, Past and Present.” Among the Superstitions discussed will be ; Fairies or Wee People, Witches and Witchcraft, Evil Eye, Blinking Cows, Churns, Will-o’-Wisp, Ghosts, Demonology, Devil Possession, Devil Manifestation, Astrology, Stare, Comets, Phases of the Moon, Warnings, Wraiths, Dog, Rooeter, Dreams, Interpretations, Biblical Visions, Lucky Things, Crickets, Stray Animals, Throwing Slipper, Unlucky Things, Flitting on Saturday, Getting Better on Sunday, Charms, May Pole, Horse Shoe, Piints, etc. Solos and other Music interspersed. V| OTICE is hereby given that a POLL of the Ratepayers of the Woodbury Water-Supply District will be taken at the WOODBURY SCHOOL, WOODBURY, on SATURDAY, 4th FEBRUARY, 1888, between the hours of 9 o’clock in the forenoon and 6 o’clock in the afternoon, on the Proposal of the Qeraldine County Council to raise the Sam of £SOO (Five Hundred Pounds) by way of Loan, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies Loans si.ct. 1886,” for the purpose of constructing irrigation Works within that part of the Qeraldine County known as the Woodbury WaterSupply District.
