A force of police attempted to effect the arrest of a number of crofters engaged in the recent disturbances at Lewie, but the crofters assembling in . force succeeded in rooting them. Jan. 18. Eleven crofters who wore arrested last week at Lewia have been acquitted, despite the declaration of the judge that each a verdict would tend to have a bad effect on society. The verdict his created a good deal of amazement. The crofters threaten to clear the deer out of 111 the forests in Lewis.
