LOYAL ALEXANDROVNA LODGE, 1.0.0. F., TEMUKA.
The installation of officers of the above Lodge took place on Monday evening, as already reported in our columns. Before the conclusion of the ceremony Bro. Bonn, 8.8.G.M. (Timaru), presented to the retiring N.G., Bro. Heap, as representing the Lodge, a beautiful picture, emblematical of the motto of the Order—- “ Friendship, Love and Truth.” The gift, which is an ornament to the Lodge room, was suitably acknowledged. The installation having been duly performed a banquet was held, at which some thirty or forty members of the Order with their friends were present. The caterer waa Mr P. Ooira, who as usual performed his duties excellently. The chair was taken by Bro. Archer, the newlyinstalled N.G., who was supported on his left by Bro. Bonn, and on his right by Bro. J. Whitehead, Treasurer of the Lodge. After due justice had been done to the more solid portion of the repast provided glasses were charged and the toast of “ The Queen and Royal Family ” was drunk with all honor. A song by Bro. Mogridge, P.N.GK, followed, after which the toast of “ The Grand Lodge of the Order ” was drank, coupled with the name of Bro. Bonn. Bro. Bonn responded to the toast, and spoke of the value of Friendly Societies. They were rapidly becoming a power in the land and a help to the State, inasmuch as they encouraged thrift and frugality. They were a good thing to encourage young people to put by for a rainy day. He was proud to say that the State was beginning to recognise the value of these Societies. The “Past Grand M asters ” was coupled with the name of Bro. Heap, who in responding expressed the pleasure he felt at the manner in which this tpast had been drunk. Ho thanked all who had assisted him in any way during his term of office, and was happy to say that the Lodge was prospering. He hoped that the members would rally round the officers of the Lodge and assist them in every way. The toast of “ The Army, Navy, and Volunteers” was responded to by Lieut. White andLance-Gorp. Heap. “ The Newly-elected Officers of the Lodge ” was responded to by Bros. Archer and Philips. The remaining toasts were—• “Nominated Officers,” replied to by Bro.
