SUPREME COURT.
The criminal session of the Court commenced at Christchurch on Monday, when the following cases were disposed of: —Regina v. Leaver, receiving, acquitted; John Jameson, indecent assault, eighteen months’ imprisonment with hard labor; Regina V. W. Ehind, alias Ryan, attempt to <4- rob, six months’ imprisonment, with ( hard labor; Regina v. J. Wright, V robbery from the person, twelve months’ imprisonment, with hard labor; Regina v. A. Mallock, embezzlement, sentence deferred; Regina T. J. Brown, larceny as a bailee, acquitted. On Tuesday John Handers was sentenced to three years’ penal servitude on two charges of burglary, the sentences to be cumulative; Wm. Maunders, for receiving stolen goods, was sentenced to six months’ hard labor; Frank O’Neill, for burgUry, v was acquitted. The trial of Nils Jacobsen for the Little River murder has been fixed for Thursday. On Wednesday Robert Kent, convicted of larceny, was sentenced to 3 years penal servitude. Michael and Patrick Clarklnrfor larceny, were acquitted.
