THE PAPAL JUBILEE.

Boxe, Jan. 7, It is estimated that fully sixty thousand people attended the special masni in commemoration of the Papal Jubilee. The sacerdotal procession was of extreme length, and was splendidly arranged. His Holiness the Pope was received with, immense enthusiasm, the large assemblage, heartily cheering him and clapping their hands on his arrival. The waving of bat» and handkerchiefs continued during the presence of His Holiness. King Humbert,, in receiving the members of both branches of the Italian Parliaments, stated that tbs success attending the Jubilee was proof that His Holiness the Pope fully retained the confidence of the people. His Holiness the Pope officiated personally at. St. Peter’s yesterday, on tbs occasion of hia Jubilee services, being assisted by forty eight cardinals and two hundred and thirty eight bishop* The congregation numbered thirty thousand. The Pope delivered bis blessing w6i at wU r and wore the triple crown presented fo him by the Emperor of Germany. Hie Holiness displayed excessive emotion, fainting twice before mass. The Duke of Norfolk, who conveyed Her Majesty the Queen’s congratulations, occupied a place of honour during the ceremony. The whole celebration was a memorable and. imposing spectacle.
