Larrikinism is-becoming unpleasantly prominent in Napier. On Tinsday two hoodlums Vere convicted of a brutal and entirely unprovoked assault on a Chinaman. One was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment without the option of a fiaa, the other wap fined £4 and costs. A constable named Carmody has also been the victim of a cruel assault. Ho was in plain clothes watching a gang of larrikins, when he was set upon and beaten until he bad just strength enough to crawl for assistance.
