KAKAHU BUSH SCHOOL.

The annual school treat and diatriof prizes in connection with this school took place on "Wednesday * last. The treat was held on a racant section adioining the schoolground. The children, with a considerable number of their parents and '■ friends, assembled shortly after two o'clock, and the Usual outdoor game 3 suitable to such gatherings were in- :• dulged in for some twoortbreehours. K An abundant and excellent tea was then served and fully discussed by the little ones. After tea games were again resorted to till about 7 •' clock, when a move was made for the school, where the prizes were to be distributed. 4 The schoolroom was crowded.

Mr Graham, Chairman of the Committee,; briefly addressed those present, and in the course of his remarks strongly urged upon the parents and guardians the absolute necessity of sending the childrento school regularly. If this were not done the consequences would be most disastrous to the school, as the children would thereby suffer. He then introduced Mrs T. Wigley, who made the presentations, the children being loudly applauded by their schoolfellow s as they came forward to receive their prizes. The following is the prize list : Standard" V.—G. Burn proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the school mißtress (Miss McKay) and her assistant (Miss E.. Meredith). - Mr. W,' Kennedy,. proposed a hearty vote of thanks,;to' Mr Graham, the .Chairman of the School Committee.

The votes were in all cases carried by acclamation, and the company .separated to renew the outdoor sports. .-The picnickers' dispersed shortly be- , fore eight o'clock, iaviDg evidently enjoyed their annual gathering.
